Chatfield Education Foundation Aids Hugs From Hunter Foundation
In the heart of Chatfield, Minnesota, a beautiful act of kindness is bringing warmth and comfort to children in crisis. Thanks to the generosity of the Chatfield Education Foundation and the dedication of Ann Shanahan, a beloved teacher at Chatfield Elementary School, students are making a real difference—one blanket at a time.
Ann, a former teacher of Hunter Biermeier, was inspired to carry on his legacy of spreading joy. She applied for and received a grant from the Chatfield Education Foundation to purchase fabric and scissors, allowing students in 4th through 6th grade to create comforting blankets for the Hugs From Hunter Foundation. This initiative not only honors Hunter’s mission but also teaches students the value of giving back to those in need.

Hunter’s Nana and long time Gundersen employee Marles Overgard (retired in 2014) along with her husband Gary donate teddy bears and security blankets to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at Gundersen Health System in behalf of the Hugs From Hunter Foundation.
