About Hunter Biermeier
Who is Hunter Biermeier
Hunter Biermeier was a vibrant, fun-loving 12-year-old with a smile that could brighten anyone’s day. His contagious joy, passion for sports, and academic excellence were only part of what made him so special. Above all, Hunter had a giving heart and a deep faith in Jesus, which he proudly declared through believer’s baptism in October 2011.
Hunter’s Life
Born on March 27, 1999, in Rochester, MN, to Kyle and Teresa Biermeier, Hunter excelled scholastically while attending Rochester public schools, including Harriet Bishop Elementary and John Adams Middle School. Although he lived in Minnesota his entire life, Hunter’s heart belonged to Wisconsin sports. He was a die-hard fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers. The chance to attend live games was a true highlight in his life.
Hunter and Athletics
Hunter was an active athlete who loved playing sports. He was a dedicated member of the JM7A traveling basketball team and had spent four years playing with the Rochester Community Youth Basketball Association (RCYBA). During the summer, he played on the 12AA traveling baseball team and had participated in Rochester Youth Baseball Association (RYBA) since kindergarten. His love for sports extended to football, golf, and shooting hoops whenever he could.
Hunter’s Family
Beyond sports, Hunter cherished time with his friends and family. He enjoyed playing video games, creating silly games with his brother and sister, and making lasting memories at his grandparents' house and his Nana and Papa's cabin. He loved swimming, tubing, campfires, badminton, cabin ball, and simply soaking up the joy of being surrounded by loved ones.
Hunter’s Goal
One of Hunter’s biggest dreams, after being hospitalized with a kindney disease, was to visit children in the hospital to read to them and share his love for life. He had a remarkable gift for bringing joy to those around him—a gift that continues to inspire us all.
Hunter’s Legacy
Tragically, Hunter’s life was cut short by an accident in November 2011. Hugs from Hunter Foundation was created to carry forward his dream of spreading love and comfort to children in crisis. The 501(c)(3) charitable organization supports children who are experiencing crisis or trauma in their lives. We began our journey by providing comforting teddy bears and security blankets to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at Gundersen Health System.
You can help keep Hunter’s legacy alive by donating or volunteering with Hugs from Hunter Foundation. Your support will bring smiles, comfort, and hope to countless children and families—just as Hunter always wanted. Volunteer opportunities are available in Rochester, MN, La Crosse, WI, and Minnesota Twin Cities metro area.
